Price stopped the number one rated Russian (Islam Timurziev) out in the second round having been two points down at the end of the first.
Timurziev was succesful in the first round hurrying in and firing off quick combinations although I thought Price should have picked up a point late in the round. Price had some joy firing straight left-right combinations at the much smaller man and it felt as if Price had a massive power advantage, sending the Russian back across the ring although not piercing his high guard.
In the second Price landed a lovely one-two on Timurziev's jaw as he hurried in as he had in the first and the Russian sunk straight to one knee. Price moved back in quickly after the count and caught his opponent again with a glancing blow that scored the second knock-down. It didn't land clean so Timurziev's legs can't have been steady. The referee stopped the fight at the end of the count to plenty of protestation from the Russian. The stoppage was perhaps premature although I could see a third and therefore final knockdown coming before the bell.
Good win for David Price. |

| Was hard to tell all that much from the fight ot be honest and I haven't seen much of him before this fight. I thought he started a little slowly and looked a tad cumbersome early on but he is an immense physican presence and there was real force in his on-two combinations even when they were landing on arms/gloves you could see they had power behind them. Whether he can outbox quicker opponenets who won't stand and trade remains to be seen though. |

Wow Great win. It was the 1st knock down that did it, Price caught him on the point of the chin coming in and thats the punch every fighter would want to land. Double momentum.
The Russian was No.1 and Price seems a good guy so I wish him well and hope he at least gets a medal. |

I think it must have been Mart, he hobbled over to the corner at the end of the 1st and could barely walk properly trying to come out for the 2nd - pulled muscle or MAJOR cramps i think |

Well he won and he looked good in the 1st round and won it 4-1. Not the way you want to win but he is now guaranteed a medal.
11/1 to win Gold at the start. My £4 bet has a chance. |
