I can't remember why we put that in place, now? :?
It was something to do with not allowing people to come on the site and mass-neg-rep members. |

My own comic disdain for the rep system aside, has there ever been any evidence of people caring about someone with a mass of negatives?
I mean presumably if someone is given a negative for a particular reason, or a complaint is made, you/Seer investigate it rather than just blanket ban after X neg reps?
A lot of sites operate a similar system, but I dunno whether it's ever taken seriously except for bragging rights/bookies is it?
Obviously that's not an endorsement of the lunatics who join just to spam, I'm just curious. |

I guess if you allow anybody to give reps it can lead to a form of trolling, since people giving it don't have any responsability receiving some in return.
The way the rep system works means that you truly are evaluated by your peers and not by some idiot who just enjoys fucking things up. |

| But by the same token, you're allowed to gamble 200 at a time - so you can actually look like nobody ever gave you any when in fact you're just irresponsible  |

It was due to people joining and neg repping everyone they could without even posting.
Funnily enough, it worked! The cavalcade of trolls stopped using the rep system as part of their wind-ups. |

| I signed up to this forum after he was banned I think, so I've missed the opportunity. He must have been a character because people mention him a lot on here. |
