|
|
Couture will face rising star Brock Lesnar in the main event of UFC 91 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Nov. 15. The fight will be a five-round, title bout, Couture’s first since resigning from the organization in October of 2007.
Thoughts Chaps?
IMO Randy will have far too much for him and i see him stopping Brock in Round 2, possibly 3. |

| i really cant pick a winner in this fight. i think lesnar can overpower anyone but couture is great at making gameplans to counter opponents strengths. its a very tough call. |

I pretty much agree with this. Lesnar is soo fuckin strong and has a tremendous wrestling background, but you never know with Couture. The guy is so wiley and always manages to surprise even the harshest critic.
Looking forward to this fight alot. How impressive it Lesnar though, taking a match with who most consider to be the best heavyweight in the UFC. |

Good points.
I am also undecided. I think Lesnar has more power and would be the stronger of the two, but then again Couture has loads of experience and has faced strong competitors before (Liddell, Ortiz, Belfort). But then again in his fight with Tim Sylvia, it was very slow and not very entertaining... so Randy will have to expect to rumble from the get-go. |

| I think Randy is the more technical striker and potentially could pick Lesnar off. |

Yeah, I see what you mean mate, but I wouldn't like to take one of Lesnar's shots, like the one that rolled Heath Herring right over and busted his eye socket.
Again, I don't want to sound like i'm blowing the guy, but I am very impressed with the route that Lesnar is taking so far. He is a relative novice in MMA and already the guy is fighting at the top level. Sensational in my book. |

I think that is the only way for him. Of all the bigger guys he has beaten none were out and out wrestlers like Lesnar...that is a whole new challenge for Randy |

Oh theres no doubting that. I have massive respect for him taking these hard fights, however, i do think Randy will win this one with more ease than others are suggesting. |

| i think lesnar will win this, his brute size will overpower randy, who remember has camapigned at light-heavy. randy is a greco-roman wrestler by nature which will suit lesnar as randy isn't a concussive puncher and neither is he a ju-jitsu specialist. these are areas of weakness for brock, but in what will effectively be a 'wrestling' match i think his size and strength will see him grind out a dull win on points, based purely on him taking randy down and lying on top of him for the majority of the rounds. |

Heh, I was speaking to a friend of mine and he said the exactly the same thing as you dude. I can agree to some extent as well, but you can never count Couture out methinks
My mate was actually quite pissed that this fight was happening at all. He really had his heart set on Fedor-Couture happening, especially given Randy's recent victory of sorts with getting out of his last UFC contract. I too echo his sentiments to some extent, as in some ways, money has won out again. I can't imagine how much they offered Couture to fight Lesnar, but you can bet it is stupid money. I don't begrudge Lesnar the match at all, but if i'm honest even with his impressive win over Herring, he doesn't deserve to be fighting Randy yet, given what Randy represents in UFC.
Still, I can't fuckin wait for this fight to happen! :D |

| The fight is happening because Dana thinks Brock will beat up Randy thus bringing credibility to his HW belt (lost somewhat due to Randy leaving the organization as its champ) |

Randy was supposed to get beat up by Gonzaga and Sylvia, it didnt happen, he dominated both. I think people are getting a bit carried away with Brock Lesnar.
Look at Randy's loses, they've been to tremendous strikers (Liddell, Barnett, Overeem). Randy has never lost a decision |

| I am just giving my opinion of Dana's reasons for making this fight. |

Again, can't argue to an extent, but also look at the fact that Lesnar-Couture stops Fedor-Couture happening, putting the spotlight back on the UFC.
Couture, for all intents and purposes was free from his UFC contract and free to fight anyone. So the way I look at it is that Dana wants to do everything possible to stop Couture and Fedor meeting, unless its in the UFC. The very idea of the biggest fight in MMA history happening outside the UFC would be a disaster for Dana. |

| I think Brocks power will probably allow him to get the win here. |
