if sosnowski is the best in europe then i am coco the clown.

and when were these glory days of five or more fights a year? when they got to world championship level the likes of leonard, hearns and hagler were fighting between one and three times a year tops.

My thing is this, Id rather this fight happen then Vitali fight no one. And honeslty, he fought Arreola made another defense less then three months after. Its not like taking this fight will take him out for another 9-12 months like other fighters.

When youre that old and youre trying to secure a bigger fight at the end of the year (Haye), would you stay warmed up or would you just take time off and let ring rust develop?

Was it not Vitali he fought?

And yeah, a guy will have slim chances of "busting someone up" throwing 5 punches a round.
The guy is a grade A cock...

There are not many fighters I really dislike, but this guy is one of them.
All cock and no balls.

after the final bell wlad came in to shake his hand say well done and all that, Johnson turned around as though hed just re-shat himself and almost took a swing at Wlad.

Not even, he was coming face to face with Vitali and Wlad held him back and then Johnson swung at him, and Wlad just told him to relax buddy.

I think HBO commentators said something like "now he wants to fight". His goal was to just make sure Vitali didnt knock him out. Thats all he wanted to do, he had absolutely no intention on winning the fight.

pacquaio fought three times in 08 and 06. wlad three in 08. abraham three times in 09, 08, 07, 06 and five in 05. williams four in 08. hasegawa three in 09 and 08. lopez three in 09 and four in 08. pavlik three in 08 and 07. caballero three in 08 and 07. darchinyan three in 09, 08 and 07. sturm three in 08, 07 and 06. bradley three in 09. ward four in 09. berto three in 08. huck four in 09 and 08. dirrell four in 08. adamek three in 09 and 08, (hell have had two in 10 by april as well). cotto three in 09. khan three in 09 and five in 08. diaz three in 09. malignaggi three in 09 and 08.

yep, it sure would be impressive to see todays fighters managing three fights a year. fancy that...

Wlad aside none of them are heavyweights...

Abrahams 5 in 05-included 1 world title fight
Pacquiao in 06-0 world title fights
Hasegawa-3 fights in 09 were 6 rounds, in fact his last 5 fights have been 10 rounds combined!
Pavlik 07 and 08-1 world title fight in each year
Khan 08-involved no world title fights and included fights with Christjansen, Gomez and St Clair

let me rephrase it

"3 fights of world title level for todays top fighters is impressive, considering how many title holders there are"
_________________
Kubrat Pulev 6-0 (4KO's)

We all have opinions but I will stick to my thoughts until proven otherwise. I cannot see Khan knocking him out though, unless he just throws loads of punches and the ref steps in prematurely. Murray hasnt got a chance in hell of facing Khan now he is with GBP, as has been shown with Maidana. With Mitchell, it would be a close fight and as I am a fan of both, would love to see it happen, even if I am wrong with my prediction.

In terms of retired fighters Id go Morales, then Naz. I loved Naz for his cockiness because, like all the great trashtalkers, he has charisma, I never found anyone indifferent to Naz - they either hated him or loved him to bits. However, it was obvious he let his ego take over way too early in his career - a string of slightly dubious fighters followed by Barrera let him get far too carried away with doing what he liked and still pulling out the win. I was also very disappointed with the way he more or less disappeared into retirement following Barrera - even though he won his comeback fight. And the way he treated Michael Brodie over the years was a huge blemish on his legacy.

So Morales gets top billing for being pretty near the embodiment of a perfect fighter for me:
He could box beautifully when he needed to, he never panicked in the ring, never took the easy route in his career, even while Barrera was fighting a shot Tapia and Mzonke Fana, he was always unpreidctable, and if Morales decided to go to war, there werent many fighters could stand in his way.

The epitome of a Mexican fighter, the first Pacquiao fight demonstrated everything about him: boxing nicely throughout the fight, coasting to victory on the cards, then the Mexican in him takes over and he decides "Yknow what? Im going to stand right here and go to war with this guy, the fans will love it" Just unfortunate that was the attitude that drastically shortened his career, but at the same time, puts him above Barrera in my book - didnt have to cheat, didnt make excuses, just got on with beiong Erik Morales.
_________________
"Though I'd rather hear you cheer

Tyson has said on numerous occasions that he doesnt have the ability and will to box anymore. He has had his day in boxing and should be enjoying his retirement, even though he got screwed by the people who should have been protecting the money he earned in the ring. He may fight again but it wont be though choice, only the money.
On the world scene, it has to be Edwin Valero. I have only seen footage of him on youtube but his power and will to win, are awesome, he just will not be denied the KO. I hope to see him in a fight with an elite level fighter soon, so he can prove his credentials on the biggest stage, if he is granted a licence in the big states of America.
He has put on more weight than usual and after the ko he suffered against Pacquiao, you have to worry about the amount of effort it will take for him to shift all that excess weight. Ive heard that it is harder to lose weight when you turn 30 and with his inactivity it could prove to be his biggest downfall in a fight with JMM. I just cannot understand how a professional athlete can get so out of shape in the space of a few months, as he has done throughout his career. I know nearly all boxers put on a few pounds between fights but he takes the piss and doesnt set a good example to all the fans who look up to him.
I havnt really got a favorite atm but i just love the relentless come forward fighter and that sort of bob and weeve crouched style that you got with Frazier and Marciano. Lamotta too. Seems strange but i also love a fighter who attacks the body not that i can really name someone like that atm though.

sad, thats a quote from yourself. you cant then say I keep hearing people wanting things to be "like the old days" and then say that there were loads of shit fights in the past. of course there were.

either way, in my opinion having a fighter as poor and undeserving as sosnowski fighting the heavyweight championship of the world will turn people away from boxing, cheapen the world title, attract nobody to the sport, be a humiliating mismatch, and probably be an absolutely terrible fight. other than the mental image of a fuming audley, i see this fight doing nothing but bad things for boxing.

i honestly cannot believe anyone is in favour of this fight happening.

I do want to see fighters getting back to have 5 + plus fights a year, if some are shit so be it. Not great seeign the best fighters in the world fighting just twice a year. you cant cheapen the title by having "the best in europe" fightign for it any more than its already been cheapened by having 3 champions. the Klitschkos are said to turn fans away from the sport, funny when you consider they still pull in 50% TV Audience in germany and that to me isnt a bad thing for the sport.
_________________
Kubrat Pulev 6-0 (4KO's)

The man to bring excitement back the the Heavyweight Division
