I was watching some stupid daytime Alan Titchmarsh program today and they asked the above question about the BBC program Top Gear.

The first guest (some woman), said she didn't like the show because it was presented by 3 ugly men.

The 2nd guest was Paul Ross, he also hated Top Gear because it was presented by 3 stupid guys who were obviously bullied as children, and somehow those three men found each other and use the show as a release/escapism from their pointless lives.

And the third guest (some other woman) also hated Top Gear because how would Jeremey Clarkson feel if his daughter acted the same way as him promoting drinking, smoking, and driving fast.

 There's a reason I don't watch daytime tv,... Mind you, that's probably more to do with me having a job.

Anyway, are there people that actually don't like Top Gear for valid reason's?

... Or d'you just think Top Gear is one big piss take, and funny?

i don't mind it. wouldn't record it if i was going to be out, but for some generally amusing sunday night viewing i'll happily watch it.

it's not about driving anyway really, more some funny/interesting sketches. trying to drive a converted car/boat accross the channel. driving a car to the north pole. sticking a car on skis and driving it off a ski jump. it's harmless entertainment.

I like it - Clarkson is very amusing at what he does and they've all clearly got a passion for it. It's nice to see a knockabout gang-style show on TV - at least they've got personalities, rather than the constant stream of reality TV misfits served up on all other programmes.

I can see why it would come across as stupid and immature to some people, but it's a bit like a Tv version of an action film - they basically get let loose with a massive toybox.

I like it. I don't like a lot of Clarkson's views generally but he is easy to take as tongue in cheek. The features are always entertaining, the specials are excellent, and as gav says I'd take them over the reality tv shit we are given most hours of the day.

Considering the views his guests had on why they didn't like Top Gear, I'd advise the large majority of people to give Titchmarsh's show a wide berth, lol

So Paul Ross, the man who sits on This Morning for 30minutes telling us all the latest on such TV gems as Im a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and X Factor, thinks Top Gear is escapism from the presenters boring lives.

All i can say to that is LOL.

why are people so bloody uptight and anal about all this stuff. i like it, its a bit of fun, yeah childish fun at times but thats what makes me laugh, plus you get to learn about cars. it really gets on my nerves the way everything has to be so serious and politically correct. lighten up big bunch of miserable arse holes. if its not your thing then fione dont watch it dont sit there whineing about it on tv when there are far more pressing issues that these type of people could talk about. :soap:

It was watching Top Gear that allured me into buying a rear wheel drive car so I could learn to power-slide around every roundabout.
