| Quote: | Pacquiao-Cotto: 1.25 million buys
HBO Sports reported today that 1.25 million pay-per-view buys were generated from last Saturday’s welterweight title fight between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto at the sold-out MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The fight was promoted by Top Rank, Inc.. The 1.25 million buy total represents the highest performing boxing pay-per-view event in 2009, generating $70 million in pay-per-view revenue. The figure includes 650,000 buys from cable homes and 600,000 from satellite and telco homes. A record 110,000 buys from Puerto Rico, Cotto’s home market, are included. It is the second time that an event featuring Manny Pacquiao, a worldwide superstar, has passed the one million mark in pay-per-view buys |
I don't know who heard 2 million |

This is good news. It means Floyd Mayweather won't be able to pull all that usual crap at the negotiating table, "they only come to see me, blah, blah, I deserve more money, etc" _________________ `

funny thing is, it probably won't stop him. floyd's seriously stupid. i mean, the whole 'money' thing. he's got the taxman crawling up his arse, he's not the top ppv seller, and there's people involved with boxing, including one of his recent opponents, who make him look like a big issue seller in comparison. |

Well thank goodness the figure wasn't 2 million as previously stipulated, otherwise negotiation table for Pacquiao/Mayweather would have just gone tits up and we'd have PBF versus Mathew Hatton to look forward to. It's just up to ego's now, everyone's mainly gearing up fpr the future fight with Pac against PBF... not just their individual careers imho.
Less PPV buys = good? Kinda ironic from a fan's point of view. _________________

I think there'll still be something to be said. He'll still say something like that.
But at the same time, I think he'll know that this is the biggest fight out there money wise no matter who he fights. Even if he takes a 30/70 split, it'll still earn more.
This fight in my mind will be made, and soon. The only news I've heard so far has been from Arum who as usual just talks about how much he dislikes Floyd. |

He said he dislikes Floyd but Floyd dislikes him too, and that it doesn;t matter, business is business - let's get it on. _________________ "Though I'd rather hear you cheer
