That you should've known what would happen before the fight?

Has happened to me the last two weeks. My instinct told me that Ward would beat Kessler but I picked Kessler. I never thought Ward would win the way he did but still. Even last weeks Pacquiao fight, I picked him on points and I was nearly right, but the speed factor made me think after, how did I think any different?

You ever have that?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Your gut instinct says something but then you read about different facts and your head says something different. You feel that a fight is going to go one way but something in your head says you must be wrong when most times you should just go with your gut instincts.
Like you say, I thought Pacquiao would stop Cotto but reading about the weight issues my head kept saying that Pac wouldnt cope with his size and strength.
Great thread to ponder.

Pretty often - its normally heart ruling head in my case. I pretty much knew in my head that Pac was favourite against Cotto but wouldn't allow for it - was desperate to see Cotto win and looked for anyway possible.

All the time mate. I've come to realise about myself that I tend to want the underdog to win (by 'underdog' I don't necessarily mean the betting underdog) and, before the fight, will convince myself that I see the fight going that way. For instance, I wanted Cotto to win against Pac. I wanted Pavlik to KO hopkins.

What I do is bet against what I want. Money on Pac, money on Hopkins etc. I tend to clean up. Smile

As for Pac vs Mayweather. Always bet on the black guy.

But specifically to last night that's when I really had it.

The way Calzaghe fights and the way Ward fights is kind of similar which made me think of how Ward would fight against Mikkel. I thought it would close though from the beginning but that' wasn't close!
